It is typically used to connect a Type-C source (PC, Laptop, Mac Computer, Mac Laptop, etc.) to a DisplayPort display (monitors, etc.). This cable is uni-directional, therefore it will only work from a Type-C source to a DisplayPort display and not in the reverse direction.
